CrossFit, it was always something I was interested in trying. Never actually attended a class due to my lack of understanding and just genuine fear that I would 1. Not be capable and 2. My anxiety would always get in the way. After hearing about Steel Coast CrossFit and the community I knew this was something I wanted to be a part of. Since joining I have not only noticed significant changes physically but mentally. I wake up excited to attend CrossFit for the coaches, friends and watching myself get stronger everyday. I don’t see CrossFit as something I have to do. It’s something I want to do. I would encourage anyone to join. Being a part of the Steel Coast community is one decision I will never regret.

Newcastle’s Newest CrossFit Gym
I Have always had an active background; swimming, playing sports and going to the gym with a main focus of trying to lose weight and improve my overall fitness. Most of the time, I would be putting in all this effort and not seeing results. However, 4-5 months ago a friend recommended I try something new, he had just joined Steel Coast. I found after a few months in, changes happening such as weight loss, strength, flexibility, but most of all my overall confidence. This has made training at Steel Coast so addictive, turning up to a class with people from all different levels of fitness pushing you to to do your best and also seeing all the changes they are making, is amazing. At this current moment I have lost 8kgs, lifting heavier and competed in 2 in house competitions to which I would never have done without the support from those at Steel Coast.
I started my CrossFit journey in October 2017, I was 23, over weight and severely lacking confidence. After a few sessions I had a week off and was feeling sore and sorry for myself but the movements and the environment had me hooked. I returned a week later and have love it ever since. Steel Coast was the first gym I had ever signed up for. I had always made excuses about starting, thinking that it’s too scary or that I’m unfit for CrossFit, but the day I walked into Steel Coast these thoughts were gone, I felt included and a part of a great community. There are things on my list I’m yet to master but the list of things I have accomplished inside the gym is always growing. CrossFit has made me both physically and mentally stronger, I now have a new found confidence inside and outside of the gym. Joining the crew at Steel Coast has got to be the best thing I have done for myself.
